The Best Preparation
The foundation of a long lasting, high quality job.
After your custom designed proposal is accepted, Hometown Painters delivers an extensive and meticulos application. We believe that a quality and thougouh preparation process is the foundation to a high quality exterior paint job.
Tarping: No prep work will begin until dropclothes are placed below and surrounding work areas.
Washing: In order to insure a proper adhesion of any primer or paint all surafaces are washed. We dont just blast water at it. The areas are first injected with an exterior cleaner to cleanse the surafaces of dirt and mildew. Then with high pressure all areas are rinsed, and all loose paint is removed.
Scraping: All loose or peeling paint is completly and thoughly hand scraped. No just a once over…..but scraped. This will begin to provide the foundation of the project.
Puttying: Any exposed nails will be countersunk. Any old dried out putty that has loosened will be replaced with new putty, that will remain elstic for years to come.
Sanding: Where specified, areas will be machine sanded. This provides a roughing up of the substrate, and will provide excelent adhsion of primers and paint finisishes.
Caulking: We seal and protect areas of potnetial heat loss and moisture seepage including door frames, window frames, and base lines. Caulking that has loosened will be removed and replaced with a neat beed of DAP 25 year plus caulking.
Gutters/Downspouts: Areas will be wire brushed to remoave any loose old finish coats. Any rusting areas will be sanded and a netrulizer applied.
Priming: All bare wood and or metal will be primed with high quality primers to seal all surafaces and provide good adhesion for the finish coat.
